How to Prepare Your Property for Snow Removal
At PJC Lawn & Snow, our goals are customer oriented. Keeping your property safe, clear, and accessible this winter, all while providing excellent communication and customer service. These quick steps help us work efficiently, avoid damage, and deliver the best and cleanest service possible.
How Our Service Works
Equipment
We use top of the line tractors with snow blowers to clear driveways efficiently and safely.
Storm Communications
An Email is sent a few hours before operations commence with our anticipated plan for the snowfall.
Once the team is dispatched, a text message or automated phone call will be sent to you when your operator is nearby and it’s time to move your car.
Crews may operate morning, daytime, or overnight as conditions require.
2. Preparing Your Property
Move vehicles out of the driveway and avoid parking them in the areas near the entrance of your driveway or across the street from your driveway.
Markers: We install driveway markers (after Nov 1). If there’s anything additional you want to protect, we highly recommend adding your own markers or cones (electric meters, uni-stone steps and borders, overhangs, garage doors, electric car chargers, etc).
Remove obstacles: Keep recycling & garbage bins, planters, toys, extension cords and other loose items out of the snow-clearing area or where snow is being blown. Protect plants, hedges, lamp posts, Christmas decorations, etc. by using a burlap sac or something similar and make sure the cable for your electric car chargers are wrapped up and hanging on the house.
Salting: We provide salting on-demand or as a seasonal contract—we’ll apply salt whenever icing conditions arise. Please contact us for a quote.
3. Safety and Access
Keep all gates and access points unlocked so we can reach the areas to be cleared (walkways included).
Down-sloping driveways: Salt before our arrival and after we’ve left to reduce slipping hazards and help our equipment work safely.
4. Seasonal Guidelines
Marker Schedule
Installed: After November 1
Removed: Before April 1
*As per city bylaws*
Operations by Snowfall
Light snowfalls (-10 cm): We may make only one courtesy cleaning pass depending on conditions.
Heavy snowfalls (+10 cm): We dispatch at 5 cm accumulation and continue with multiple clearings until final cleanup, including clearing the city plow ridge at the end of your driveway.
Loose Objects
Please avoid leaving loose items in snow-clearing zones.
Please DO NOT approach the tractors as it is very dangerous. Drivers are instructed to not open their doors. If there is an issue during operations, please contact our office.
This guide was made with the goal of helping you prepare your property for snow removal operations. It is a summary of our terms and conditions. For full terms and conditions, please refer to your snow removal contract or ask the office for a copy.
